Ibnu Sina Institute for Fundamental Science Studies (IIS), of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, located at Skudai in Johor, was established in 1997 to stand at the forefront of the university's aspiration of being a research university by the year 2010. IIS emphasizes on frontier science research activities; directly applying basic knowledge of physics, chemistry and biology with mathematics to facilitate the advancement of local technology, engineering and material discoveries. The research undertaken by IIS provides the education and training of researchers preparing to meet the scientific challenges of the future, in tandem with the Malaysian goal of having world class scientists; equivalent to Nobel Laureates by the year 2020.

All Thanks to the great supports & arrangement of the Mathematics Program Chairman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tahir Ahmad, together with his helpful colleagues like Dr. Fong Wan Heng, Cik Zarina Junet, Cik Siti Rahayu & others, OPTIMAL Expert had just facilitated two sessions of 1-day Mathematica workshop on 17 & 18 July 08 at Makmak Matematik of IIS.

18 participants of doctorate researchers, post graduate students & lecturers from various disciplines filled up the two sessions quickly. Though some individual attendees were previously or currently the users of Mathematica V4 or V5, again the computation power, visualization, deployment flexibility, connectivity & integrated data sources, & many other advanced features of Mathematica V6, never failed to impress those who signed up the 1-day crashed course. In fact the class had so much of fun with Mathematica V6 & many were asking for more!
